SM City Cebu and Casa Gorordo Museum are holding an exhibit entitled “HeroiSM: Celebrating local heroes of the Philippine Revolution at the SM City Cebu Northwing from June 1 to 15, 2022.

“The exhibit brings recognition to heroes in Cebu who contributed to the creation of the Philippine nation during the late 19th and early 20th centuries through their participation in the Katipunan Revolution,” said Florencio Moreño II, curator of Casa Gorordo Museum.

HeroiSM is designed for mall audiences and uses simplified narratives of heroes and the historic events that they were a part of. The narrations are packaged as small audio-visuals that can be activated through QR codes, so a full of experience of the exhibit requires the use of mobile phones and mobile data.

“Our aim is to make the experience of visitors more interesting and enjoyable,” Moreño said. “Filipino audiences are hooked to social media platforms, and through this innovation, we are blending Filipino preference for social media type content with a traditional exhibit,” he added.

The exhibit also features a walk-in photobooth where visitors can be part of an old Cebu Street scene. Aside from this, cosplayers will be available for photo opportunity with visitors on the opening day and on Independence Day, June 12, 2022.

Casa Gorordo Museum is a program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) under its Culture & Heritage Unit which aims to promote enjoyment, awareness and sharing of local culture to the world. One of the Philippines’ largest social development organizations, RAFI is working in the fields of leadership, education development, cancer awareness, culture, disaster prevention and response, and micro-finance.
