RAFI Culture & Heritage Unit

RAFI Culture & Heritage Unit (RAFI CHU)

RAFI Culture & Heritage advocates for the preservation and promotion of Cebuano culture and heritage. The program unit aims to awaken the Cebuano’s interest for the past, educate about Cebu history, improve levels of awareness and strengthen everyone’s sense of pride as a Cebuano.

Its main programs are the Gabii sa Kabilin (Night of Heritage) which is held every last Friday of May in time for the Philippine National Heritage Month and International Museum Day; and the Casa Gorordo Museum, a house-museum showcasing the Cebuano lifestyle from the 19th and early 20th centuries, located in the historic Parian district of Cebu – the oldest city in the Philippines. It also has several curriculum-based activities and public programs that  promote local heritage such as the Merienda Makeover Challenge and the monthly Casa Gorordo Museum Talks.

In 2019, the unit has produced four publications under its grants arm while the museum has achieved a total reach of 54,308 individuals in reach with a stellar client rating of 4.8/5.
