Learners in the towns of San Fernando and Alcantara have something to look forward to. With schools slowly preparing for their safe reopening, students in the municipalities of San Fernand and Alcantara may soon enjoy learning in their new classrooms.
Excellent learning environments are key factors in supporting the holistic learning outcomes of students. Classrooms play a critical role in enhancing students learning development and foster opportunities of creativity, collaboration, and communication among learners.
The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., through its Education Development Unit (RAFI EDU) provides extensive support to schools across Cebu in helping build safe and well-designed classrooms for schools. Recently, RAFI EDU turned over four 3-storey 6-classroom buildings to four schools in Cebu Province.
One 3-story 6-classroom building was turned over to the San Fernando Central School and Pablo Villamera Integrated School in San Fernando, Cebu. The turnover ceremony was attended by the RAFI Social Well-being Cluster Executive Director Marie Sol D. Gonzalvo, San Fernando Vice-Mayor Ricci Regen Reluya and Department of Education (DepEd) Cebu Province Dr. Marilyn S. Andales.
“We express our profound gratitude to Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. for collaborating with the Municipality of San Fernando in implementing the School Rebuild Program. Thank you for this school building that will surely provide a safer and more conducive learning environment for public school pupils. No words can repay what RAFI did to benefit San Fernando schools and the municipality of San Fernando in general,” said Lissa Papas, San Fernado Central School Faculty President.
In a separate ceremony, another 3-story 6-classroom building was turned over to the Candabong Elementary School and Cabadiangan Integrated School in Alcantara, Cebu. There event was attended by RAFI Chief Operating Officer Riella Mae Christa Guioguio, Alcantara Municipal Mayor Fritz Lastimoso and DepEd Cebu Province Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Bongcawil Fay Luarez.
“Rest assured that we would take good care of this buildings that you have donated to our learners. We hope that this donation will go a long way and be maximized to the fullest as soon as we go back to limited face-to-face. We hope that this would not be the end but rather the beginning of another blessings to the District of Alcantara and Cebu Province Division,” said Dr. Fay C. Luarez, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent.
Since 2004, RAFI EDU has been rehabilitating classrooms and providing school facilities for schools in Cebu. To date, it has rehabilitated a total of 2,207 classrooms all over Cebu.
The Education Development Unit of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-EDU) helps in the formation of effective learning environments by providing high-quality, cost-effective school infrastructure and by capacitating school communities for the continuous improvement of learning outcomes.
