Ricardo Mariscal or Ric, bagged the most coveted RAFI Exemplary Employee Award (REEA) last November 16, 2018, during the celebration of RAFI’s 52nd Founders’ Day. This year, he also celebrates his 21st year of service in the Foundation.
This is the retelling of his success story in the eyes of the people who know him more — his colleagues.
On His Longevity and Being an Inspiration
Ric started working at the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation (RAFI) as a bookkeeper on March of 1997, and 21 years after, he is now the Regional Audit Manager for RAFI Micro-finance, Inc.
For Cherrylene Roma, RAFI’s Internal Audit Associate, Ric is an epitome of hard work and diligence, saying that he is very approachable and is willing to lend a helping hand whenever you need assistance with something.
“I have known Sir Ricky for almost 2 years now. When I started here in RAFI, he was the Senior Auditor for RAFI programs and support units and was also my immediate supervisor,”
“Five months after I joined RAFI, he became the Regional Audit Manager for RAFI Micro-finance, Inc.”
Living the RAFI Core Values
Cherrylene believes that Ric truly deserves the REEA 2018 because of his commitment, and valuable contributions to the Foundation, truly living its core values.
For Dominica B. Chua (DBC), RAFI President & Chief Operating Officer, Ric is the most deserving to win the REEA 2018 for his contribution to the growth of the Foundation, and his exemplary work ethics.
“The qualities of Ric that make him outstanding are his high sense of integrity, honesty, an extra mile of service and dedication to his work and that of the organization,”
DBC added further that, “Other than being the embodiment of the RAFI core values, Ric maintains an excellent performance, is humble and has an impeccable character,”
On Being a Role Model
When asked on how Ric can be an inspiration to her, Cherrylene answered Ric’s longevity in the Foundation.
“He (Ric) is my inspiration — that I could also be of service to the organization for more than 20 years… An inspiration that I could also be an instrument in elevating the lives of people and communities, and contribute to RAFI’s vision of “Touching People, Shaping the Future,” she added.
Cherrylene also shared her message to Ric.
“May you empower more and inspire other RAFInians! Sir Ric, let us bugsay together as a team Kaabag for the Foundation.”
The Most Outstanding Employee of 2018
In his short message days after being awarded the REEA 2018, Ric said that he never expected he would win the coveted award.
“I was speechless, in total disbelief, because never in my wildest dream did it ever cross in my mind that one day I will be a REEAwardee, not even a nominee,”
“I stayed in RAFI, not because of the award but because I love and believe what RAFI has been doing for the last fifty-two (52) years,”
“Based on my experience, I think what is important is that you believe in the mission and vision of RAFI because your motivation to work every single day is not for the award but because you believe in what the organization is doing and advocating; and you are inspired to work in whatever capacity with or without the award,”
“Secondly, having the right attitude towards your work and building good relationships with your colleagues as well as internal and external partners. Continue to work based on your capacity, sincerity and guided by your principles. And in God’s time, everything will just fall into the proper place,” Ric shared.
As RAFI Brand Ambassadors
Ric shared that as RAFInians, we are the living brand ambassadors of the Foundation, highlighting the value of our actions as a person and as an employee of RAFI.
“Let us not forget that as a RAFI employee, we are representatives and an integral part of the RAFI brand. Thus, let us continue to act accordingly, aligned with our core values not just internally but more so externally when we are dealing with our different partners or stakeholders. Our actions would speak volumes of who we are as a person and as an employee of RAFI,”
On People Who Matter for Ric
Ric shared that he is dedicating his REEA to his mother, his family, and to God.
“I would like to give credit to my mother for this achievement, she was instrumental in molding me into who I am today, particularly my personal values and principles in life in which I continue to adhere to; and then to my family for always supporting and believing in me, they are my source of motivation,”
“Most of all, I dedicate this to the Lord Almighty, for keeping me grounded, and giving more years to serve with this well-meaning organization,” he shared.
Message From the RAFI President
When asked on her message for Ric, DBC has this to say:
“To keep the award at the highest level at all times and to always remember that his greatest role in RAFI is being a role model to the rest of the RAFInians,”
“Ricky is one of us — we work not only for ourselves but for the others; and in doing these great tasks of elevating the lives of others, we have to have strong values, service and drive towards excellence,” she added.
Diligence, dedication, integrity and being a role model are some of the virtues that made Ric the newest recipient of the RAFI Exemplary Employee Award (REEA), and may his story inspire RAFInians to become future leaders and follow his example and longevity. #IAMRAFI
