Some 52 youth answered the call for servant leadership during the 6th Cebu Young Leaders Summit (CYLS) held at the Kool Adventure Camp of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-KAC) last October 17 to 20, 2018.

The 6th CYLS went with the theme ’Abante Kabatan-onang Sugbuanon’ to advocate and encourage the Cebuano youth to move forward and perform their vital role in nation-building through servant leadership.

CYLS is an annual gathering that brings together young Cebuano leaders with the aim of honing their leadership, passion, skills, and potential. The summit seeks to form values-based and principled leaders committed to nation-building and uplifting the lives of the Filipinos through the networks built with passion to contribute to national development.

CYLS was formed through the effort and leadership of the Ayala Young Leaders Alumni Association, Inc. (AYLAAI), the alumni graduates of the Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC). The alliance contributes to the community and nation-building through the leadership of its local chapter and members in continuing the calling for servant leadership.

Simon “Tatay Monch” Mossesgeld, AYLC director, told participants during his servant leadership session, that their “most important tool of effective leadership is yourself and all that you are. Leadership is from the inside out. It is an expression of character, principles, skills, competencies and life experiences.”

“Leadership is who you are in action.” he added.

“For years now, RAFI-KAC has been a partner of CYLS. We co-developed programs that provides adventure tools for learning and through powerful learning experiences, we believe that we can equip Cebuano youths with the character, competence and citizenship to be good servant leaders,” said RAFI-KAC Camp Director Marie Sol Gonzalvo. Gonzalvo is an AYLC alumna, an active member of AYLAAI, and program adviser of CYLS 2009.

The Kool Adventure Camp of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI-KAC) is the first and only fully dedicated Adventure Education Center in the Philippines. RAFI-KAC equips organizations and individuals with the character, competence, and citizenship to be leaders of change through powerful learning experiences.
