The first week of April was a busy one for the Micro-finance Unit of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI Micro-finance), with new branches opened in different areas in Samar province in three consecutive days.

The branches in Catarman, Catbalogan and Calbayog, and Basey were opened last April 3, 4, and 5, respectively.

“Penetrating Samar, reported to be the third poorest province in the country, is our way of helping more families through our programs and services, and reaching out to them so we could help elevate their lives,” said RMF Regional Manager for Leyte and Samar Junrey Bugsocan.

Bugsocan added that RMF is planning to widen its reach further in Samar

by opening at least four more branches, considering the wide coverage of the province.

“I joined RMF because of the products and insurance it offers,” said Gemma Tupa, 44, one of Calbayog branch’s first clients and chairperson of the Capoocan group.

Aside from the branches in Samar, RMF opened three other branches in April, this time in Leyte and Negros Occidental. Tacloban 2 branch in Leyte was opened last April 5, while the branches of Sagay and Cadiz 2 in Negros Occidental were opened last April 6.

As of April 2018, RMF now has a total of 99 branches.

The Microfinance Program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI Micro-finance) provides financial and non-financial services to micro-entrepreneurs with a mission of elevating lives of the vulnerable and disadvantaged communities through stable and rewarding livelihood.
