The Kabilin Center (TKC), Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation Inc. (CFIF), and other Cebu homegrown artisans and designers are set to weave creativity and sense of Filipino pride for a special exhibit that will intertwine the story of artistry and craftsmanship in our local scene. Dubbed as Handurawang Kinamot: Cebuano Design and Heritage exhibition, this anticipated event will embark on a visual journey highlighting an array of significant and relevant products coming from different time periods across the island province of Cebu.
The exhibition is an avenue to feature renowned Cebu-based designers and iconic items of historical value, underscoring their contributions that left an indelible mark for both local and global design landscape. It will also provide a platform for local makers and artisans to showcase their town’s practices and methodologies against the backdrop of modernization.
More than the curation of products, the exhibit will open door for conversations relating to the contemporary challenges confronted by the design industry, including the lack of mentorship and capacity building for skilled individuals despite the abundance of resources. This will be a timely opportunity for trendsetters and traditional artisans to cross paths and engage in a healthy exchange of strategies that will lead to adaptability and innovation.
A private viewing of the exhibition for partners and other invited guests is slated this October 3, 2024. Following the start of public viewing on October 4, at 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
