The Microfinance Program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI Micro-finance, Inc.) continues to expand, opening new branches in three areas in Iloilo province last June 26 and 27, 2018.

RMF’s new branches are located in Passi City, and in the towns of Sara and Miagao.

One of the newest members of RMF, Nanay Evangelina Buyo, 53, of Sara town, said she is happy now that she is finally an RMF member, having heard about the organization from a Cebu-based sibling who is also a member.

“What enticed me to join RMF are its products like insurance coverage and education loan, which I will use for my children who are still in school,” she said.

Nanay Evangelina, who hailed from Mindanao but moved to Iloilo after marrying, manages a tailoring shop.

Another nanay who joined the RMF branch opening in Miagao is Nanay Amellia Maestrecampo, a tricycle operator who also runs a small canteen and sari-sari store.

“We really need a bigger capital now to earn bigger because our family is growing and the kids will soon be going to school. We are also attracted to the insurance product of RMF. It’s something we could really use,” she said.

Nanays Evangelina and Amelia are among the 176,207 micro-entrepreneur borrowers of RMF across the Visayas. By the end of the year, RMF aims to have 250,000 borrowers from its areas of operation in the provinces of Biliran, Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Samar, and Southern Leyte.

The Microfinance Program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI Micro-finance, Inc.) provides financial and non-financial services to micro-entrepreneurs with a mission of elevating lives of the vulnerable and disadvantaged communities through stable and rewarding livelihood.
