RAFI Micro-finance, Inc. (RMF) clients from Palompon, Leyte availed themselves of free medical consultations and other services during a Community Outreach Program (COP) held last May 26, 2018 at the Palompon Gymnasium.

One of the RMF clients, Wina Mendez, 34, a laundrywoman, came all the way from Isabel, Leyte to avail herself of the free services of medical consultation and circumcision for her son.

“We would’ve spent Php 600.00 if we had the circumcision performed in the hospital. I’m glad I decided to come here; not only did we get the procedure for free, we were also given free medicines and medical check-ups,” Mendez said.

More than 500 clients and residents came to avail themselves of the different services such as free medical and optical consultations, breast and cervical screening, dental services, blood sugar testing, and blood typing. In addition, more than 100 young boys were able to avail themselves of free circumcision.

Nanay Ma. Luisa Verba, 36, said she brought her son Yuri, 8, to be circumcised during the COP to save money.

Aside from the medical services, a livelihood seminar led by Pilmico on hog raising was conducted during the event. There was also a raffle draw where RMF clients won household appliances and a sack of rice.

The COP is a yearlong activity of RMF; it will soon be conducted in Clarin, Bohol.
