Wanting to optimize benefits gained from Client Advisory Board (CAB) activities, RAFI Micro-finance, Inc. (RMF) is collaborating with the Integrated Development Unit (IDU) of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., starting off with the recently concluded back-to-back CAB in Bais and Sibulan branches last March 2018.
The CAB is an RMF program created to develop and strengthen the leadership skills and capabilities of participating chairwomen in handling the centers they lead. Through a series of leadership workshops led by IDU Program Officer Constantine “Tatz” Samson, the activities featured the core theme of the CAB “Bringing out the leader.”
The activities conducted taught participants how to communicate effectively with their members by undergoing activities that test teamwork and their decisiveness as a leader.
“Though we already have the capacity to lead the activity, the collaboration with RAFI-IDU builds a stronger foundation for these chairwomen to pass on what they have learned to their respective centers. They will also learn how to respond to certain situations, such as solving problems that require them to be firm yet approachable,” said Business Development Specialist, Vemanda Biscayda.
An election was conducted after each training and workshop. The newly elected CAB officers will organize, through a fund raising activity, a community service program for each of their communities. Officers will each serve a term of three years.
“These new set of officers will have a big responsibility in organizing their activities and helping other centers. The branches, though, will still hold regular activities and assist the CAB members when necessary,” Biscayda added.
Forty women participated in the CAB in Bais City, Negros Oriental last March 3 while 38 chairwomen participated in the CAB in Sibulan, Negros Oriental last March 16. Another CAB activity will be conducted this month for the areas of Dumaguete, Siquijor, and Bayawan.
The Microfinance Program of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI Micro-finance) provides financial and non-financial services to micro-entrepreneurs with a mission of elevating lives of the vulnerable and disadvantaged communities through stable and rewarding livelihood.
